How to Be a Likeable Salesman?
Being a successful salesman isn't just about having a great product or service.
It's about making connections and building relationships.
It is crazy how we often hear word salesman in only bad context. What’s more, if he is a good salesman we don’t usually feel like being sold to. We think of him/her more like a consultant/expert.It is crucial to build business relationships like this.
Here are some key ideas to become a likeable salesman and make a great first impression.
1. Be Genuine and Authentic 👉 People can sense insincerity from a mile away. Authenticity is crucial in building trust and rapport. Show genuine interest in your clients' needs and concerns. When you are honest and transparent, customers are more likely to trust you and value your recommendations. Don’t pretend to be someone else. Be yourself!
2. Active Listening 👉 Show that you care. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes. Try to understand their situation. Ask many questions.
3. Positive Body Language 👉 Non-verbal cues play a significant role in how others perceive you. Maintain eye contact, offer a firm handshake, and smile genuinely. Open body language, such as uncrossed arms and facing the person directly, can make you appear more approachable and trustworthy.
In the case of online meetings, don’t write to somebody else. Focus just on this one call. Look in the camera directly, smile and be comfortable in your chair.
4. Be Knowledgeable and Prepared 👉 Know your product or service inside out but not only that - check your client company or services as well! This builds confidence in your ability to meet the client's needs. Additionally, being prepared for meetings shows professionalism and respect for your client's time. Have all necessary materials and information ready, and be able to answer any questions that might arise.
5. Match your client 👉 If the client is really enthusiastic, try to be the same way. If the client is analyzing everything, meet his expectation by giving more details than usual. People will appreciate you adjusting to their point of view.
6. Underpromise and overdeliver 👉 Build correct expectations. If you are not sure that something can be done, say I will check it out and get back to you. On the other hand when you do something do everything in your power to help out your client.

👉Clarity and Conciseness: Be clear and concise in your communication. Avoid jargon and overly complex explanations. Your goal is to make it easy for the client to understand the value you offer.
👉Confidence: Confidence without arrogance is key. Believe in yourself and your product, and this confidence will naturally transfer to your client.
